I Guess I Am Emegent (but it was a tie)

You scored as Emergent/Postmodern, You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don’t think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

What’s your theological worldview?

The funny part is that its probably true. I snagged this from Chrissie Koerber’s blog.

I actually had a tie breaker question that asked:

Which do you agree with more?
1. Older churches are unintelligible to modern people – This was the one I chose.
2. Preaching the word is more important than worship

In my defense many older churches tend to unintelligible to modern people, and I can’t see how you can separate preaching from an intergral part of worship.

Are Multi-site Churches Cheating?

Maybe its just me but the idea of multi-site churches seems to be gaining wider and wider acceptance. Recently a mega church in the suburbs of Pittsburgh announced that is going to be planting a site near our church. A week later I meet some guys in the Philadelphia area that are in the PCA and planning to follow a pattern similar to Harbor in San Diego. Even my pastor has stated that our church is considering the idea of multiple locations. So here is my questions: Is multi-site cheating? Is it church planting or church growth? Part of my questions comes from a conversation with a guy I know who seemed to say that multi-site was only a step to church planting. Is he right? Should multiple locations be looked at as only half churches? or some in between step?
Clearly its a question of philosophy of ministry. I would tend to believe that more traditional people would see multi-sites as cheating, where others would see multiple leaders and multiple sites all working as one as a valid way of ministering.

Church Planter Community

So today Matt and I got up way too early and caught a flight to Philadelphia for the church planter community forum that they have out there. It was a great time. We heard about the idea of mercy and justice in church planting, and Matt and I got to talk on the plane and it was a great time.
I hope that these talks yield some greater work.

Changing from Movabletype to WordPress

So I have begrudgingly made the switch from movabletype to wordpress. What was my reasoning you ask?

Well:

1. 500 SERVER ERROR! this one really annoys me when I updated to the new version of movabletype I start to get these wierd server errors when ever I refreshed the site after one of those painfully long rebuilds, this also meant that neat ajax things like snap did not work.
2. Movable Type is seems to becoming less concerned with normal non-professional bloggers, and thats me.
3. The reload time for Movable Type is insane. I have been blogging since April of 05 and there are only 100 posts or so, but it can take over two minutes to rebuild the site.

Maybe that sounds petty but I was just getting way too annoyed with movable type to even consider wanting to stay with movable type after another design change.

Here are somethings I will miss about movabletype:
1. mass delete of posts
2. multiple blogs on one install (maybe wordpress can do this)
3. Some sweet plugins that are missing in wordpress
4. I will not be missing rebuild time!

New Tattoo(s)?

It has been almost three years since I got my first tattoo, and Ive been pondering if I should get another one. Part of my dilemma at first was wondering whether it would hinder my ministry, but I’ve since come to think that it will not.
So I’ve decided that it was time to get another one, or maybe two. My first one was small on the inside of my wrist, and faced me, it read “Be not overcome with evil but over come evil with good. Romans 12:21″

I think this time around I will end up getting something a little more visible. At this point I’m hoping to get one of a sword and a trowel on one arm, and then get another one on my other arm. But which one?
Im leaning towards the Chi Ro with the crown but man any of these would be cool.
The Alpha and Omega with a Crown?
The Chi ro with alpha and omega?
The thc with a cross?
Or The Simple Chi Ro
What might be even cooler is that Joanna might get something like this on her back.
Cross
